Public Beaches Near Indian River
Our area is home to several sandy, clean and shallow beaches, perfect for passing the time on a summer day. Pack a lunch, grab your sunscreen, and have a great day on the water!
Devoe Beach & Veteranʼs Pier
Located on the southeast end of Burt Lake near the mouth of the Sturgeon River, DeVoe Beach is a beautiful sandy beach with a picnic area shaded by towering pines. It is one of Indian Riverʼs most popular waterfront destinations. Visitors can enjoy swimming, picnicking, and stunning views of Burt Lake, or they can watch boats go by on the Indian River from the Veterans Pier.
A popular viewing spot for 4th of July fireworks, Devoe Beach is ADA accessible and has public restrooms.
Burt Lake State Park
Burt Lake State Park is situated on the southeast corner of beautiful Burt Lake. The park is home to 2,000 feet of sandy shoreline, a shallow designated swim area, modern camping, boating, fishing, sightseeing and much more.
You do not need to camp at the park to enjoy the beach—just make sure you have your Michigan DNR Recreation Passport, and you can access the beach and the boat launch!
Topinabee Beach Park
Located directly on the North Central State Trail, with approximately 400 feet of Mullett Lake frontage, the Topinabee Beach Park has everything needed for a perfect gathering. The park features grills, benches, picnic tables with umbrellas, fountain, trash cans, a dog waste station, small bathing beach, children’s landscape structure, with play equipment and docks for day use by boaters and swimmers.
Boy Scout Park
Located at 2863 Boy Scout Rd., just off Jewell Rd, Boy Scout Park was originally a Boy Scout Camp. It consists of 45 acres, including picnic pavilion, swimming dock, swing sets, rustic restrooms, Quonset hut storage building, and gravel driveway. The park has approximately 400 feet of frontage on Mullett Lake’s east side, adjacent to a beautiful DNR boat launch site.
