Greenwood Foundation is located in Nunda Township, near Interstate 75 about 20 miles Northeast of Gaylord. The Greenwood Foundation has more than 2,000 acres of beautiful woodlands, wetlands, and lakes, with more than two miles on the Little Pigeon River. Greenwood has a great variety of animals. Bird species are abundant, including many migratory song birds, eagles, hawks, owls, Trumpeter swans, Sandhill cranes and geese. In the forested and wetland areas you can find mammals such as the otter, beaver, black bear, raccoon, deer, elk and various fish species.

George Jury is the founder of Greenwood Wildlife Sanctuary. He and his late wife had the dream and mission to conserve the natural state of the land, protecting and encouraging the growth of the wildlife population on the land, and making the land available as an educational resource to qualified persons to the extent consistent with these conservation goals. This mission is solely funded by Greenwood Foundation, a private operating foundation committed to protect the land permanently, protected by conservation easements through the Little Traverse Conservancy.
