Morel Mushrooms

morelMorels often grow in moist woodlands and near dead tree. They can be anywhere from 2 to 12 inches tall and are often found around ash, elm, or oak trees. Early in the season morels tend to be found on the edges of the woods and deeper in as the season progresses. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the differences between morels and false morels as false morels can cause problems for some people when eaten.

Be sure to enjoy one of the many morel dishes offered by our area restaurants, just don’t expect them to give you their favorite morel hunting locations!
